I started to play handball as far as I remember in my primary school. I was always skinny and asthmatic…. my mum was totally against me playing handball at the start. However, the teacher saw my passion and one day knocked on my mum's door begging her to let me compete and represent my school. I represented my primary and secondary school to locals and regionals. My team was my best friend and my couch was someone I still admire ❤
My high school teacher was teaching volleyball until I started high school🙄😊. I told him that I had no interest in PE and I would not attend any of his classes unless he did handball. He asked me that if I find enough girls with interest he will make a team. I gathered all my high school friends and made a handball team tougher. I was the captain of the team as my PE teacher had no interest. With great motivation, we won the local competition in second place in the local area while my teacher was reading his newspaper on the bench 😂.
However since that competition somehow I managed to turn him around and he has had a handball team since.
After I graduated the girls left in high school told me that they also played regionals winning the local competitions.
I love handball, it makes me feel good about myself and it also gave me the best friends I ever had in every team I played. The sisterhood of a team in a competition is not something I experienced in any other environment.
