Newquay Handball Club and Plymouth Handball Club 2022 joined forces to participate in the British Beachhandball Championship 2023. This adventure challenged both clubs to their limits, as due to the Pandemic and restructuring, the last competition is 3 years ago. Only a Team of 7, the minimum number for a Team, was available to play against the Top Teams in the UK (which partly were formed from excellent European players, including former national players).
The competition had to be reduced to one day, due to the high winds on Saturday. So there were only 3 games to play instead of 6. The Newquay & Plymouth Seals suffered from too many mistakes in the first two games, but found their way around better and better. The last game was a special challenge, as the Seals faced the 2022 Runner-up.
The first half was a very close match, where some tiny mistakes prevented a win for the Seals. The second half saw more great play but the opponents finally were too strong. Everybody could leave the pitch with their heads held high and the Seals are looking forward to returning in 2024. British Beach Sports Championships
